I finally got round to playing with this.

YES, it does work, i used a combination of two articles on the “Interweb” and the really nice thing, with the RTM build, compatibility for WSS is not an issue.

Works really well, just make sure you do all the steps or you will wonder why the heck it is not working. I skipped a step and BIG surprise, it did NOT work. Work through it slowly and you will have WSS on Windows 7 in no time at all.

Just to point your minds at ease that it is possible, see below.

Check the Windows properties and name.

Check the WSS site.
